Prioritizing Your Relationship!

Writer: Carmela WestCarmela West
I was pondering relationship with God and my spirit rejoiced. When we go to God in prayer are we treating Him like a vending machine, or an ATM, or a Drive thru window? Maybe a microwave oven or a genie in a bottle.

Thinking that we can just push the right buttons and get something in return? Well, God does not operate like that. Actually, the foundation of our lives is an intimate relationship of love with God, who created us for that purpose. God wants us to delight ourselves in Him and commit ourselves, entrusting everything to Him, such as our lives, families, jobs, and possessions, this means everything that we have should be relinquished to His control and His guidance. We must believe and understand that He alone can care for us better than we can care for ourselves. We should take great joy and pleasure in having a deep, spiritual relationship with God. He is the lover of our souls, and He wishes that none shall perish! Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” When we love someone, we want to give them all the desires of their heart to make them happy.. and when we fall short, we feel terrible. But God our Father is Rich in mercies and grace.. He owns a cattle on a thousand hills, He owns everything and when we make Him first in our lives, when we prioritize Him.. then, He rewards us openly and those without relationship with Him, cannot even comprehend. Finally, we cannot love someone we don’t know, so knowing Him should be our first priority. Those who pursue God and His righteousness, who take seriously the command to love Him above all else, are those who are consumed with the things of God. Therefore, be eager to study God’s Word, eager to pray, eager to obey and honor God in all things, and eager to share Jesus Christ with others. It is through these spiritual disciplines that our love for God grows and matures and we Prioritize our Relationship! Lord, give us eyes to see You, and ears to hear You, along with a pure heart to love You. In Jesus name, Amen!
